🧾 Ingredients

  • Radish (mooli) – 1 medium, peeled and grated

  • Oil – 1 tablespoon

  • Mustard seeds – ½ teaspoon

  • Cumin seeds (jeera) – ½ teaspoon

  • Chana dal – 1 teaspoon

  • Curry leaves – 6 to 8

  • Green chili – 1, finely chopped

  • Onion – 1 small, finely chopped

  • Turmeric powder – ¼ teaspoon

  • Salt – to taste

Step 1: Prepare the Radish

  • Peel the radish and grate it.



  • If the radish releases too much water, gently squeeze out excess waterIf there is only a little moisture, use it as is.


Step 2: Prepare the Tempering

  • Heat oil in a pan over medium flame.

  • Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds; let them splutter.


  • Add chana dal and sautΓ© until lightly golden.

  • Add curry leaves and chopped green chili.



Step 3: SautΓ© Onion

  • Add chopped onion and fry for 1–2 minutes until it turns soft.


Step 4: Cook the Radish

  • Add the grated radish to the pan.


  • Mix well and cook for 3–4 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  • Add turmeric powder and salt.


  • Cook until the radish is soft and well combined with the spices.


Step 5: Serve

  • Switch off the flame. Garnish with coriander leaves.

  • Serve hot as a side dish for rice or with chapati/roti.
