🧾 Ingredients

  • Sweet potatoes – 4 medium
  • Ghee – 2 tablespoons
  • Mixed dry fruits – ¼ cup (cashews, raisins, almonds, pistachios; chopped)
  • Milk – ¼ cup (adjust as needed)
  • Sugar or jaggery – ½ cup (optional, adjust to taste)
  • Cardamom powder – ¼ teaspoon (optional)

Step 1: Cook the Sweet Potatoes

Instant Pot method:

  • Wash the sweet potatoes and place them on the trivet.
  • Add 1 cup water, close the lid, and pressure cook on High for 10 minutes.
  • Let the pressure release naturally.

Pressure Cooker method:

  • Add washed sweet potatoes with enough water.
  • Cook for 2 whistles on medium flame.
  • Allow pressure to release naturally.



Step 2: Peel and Mash

  • Once cooled slightly, peel the skin from the sweet potatoes.
  • Mash them well using a masher or fork until smooth.
  • Keep aside.



Step 3: Fry the Dry Fruits

  • Heat 2 tablespoons ghee in a pan on medium flame.
  • Add the chopped dry fruits and sautΓ© until lightly golden and aromatic.
  • Remove a small portion and keep aside for garnish (optional).



Step 4: Add Sweet Potato

  • Add the mashed sweet potato to the pan with the fried dry fruits.
  • Mix well, stirring continuously.



Step 5: Add Sweetener & Milk

  • Add ½ cup sugar or jaggery (depending on sweetness preference).
  • Pour in ¼ cup milk.
  • Mix well and cook on low flame.













Step 6: Cook Until Halwa Consistency

  • Stir continuously to avoid sticking.
  • Cook until the mixture thickens, leaves the sides of the pan, and turns glossy.
  • Add cardamom powder if using and mix well.



Step 7: Serve

  • Garnish with reserved fried dry fruits.
  • Serve warm.
